Two Buffalo Bill's Wild West Programs, 1887 and 1895.
The 1887 program, 7" x 10", lists the acts as they appear including the show's featured shootists, "The Cowboy Kid" Johnny Baker, Annie Oakley, and "The California Girl" Lillian Smith. The program is filled with engravings depicting the events in western history that are featured in the show. There are also articles, poetry, and testimonials that sing the praises of Buffalo Bill. The 1895 program, 7" x 9.5", is for Buffalo Bill's Wild West and Congress of Rough Riders of the World: cowboys; Indians, Arabs; Mexicans; Royal Irish Lancers; French cavalry; Cossacks; Gauchos; and German cavalry. Johnny Baker and Annie Oakley remained featured shootists. By 1895 advertising had found Buffalo Bill, or vice-versa, a full twenty pages are devoted to advertising. The cover of the 1895 issue is beautiful color lithography in fine condition. Very attractive and fascinating reading.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
