Tombstone/Gunfight at the O.K. Corral: W. R. McLaury Bank Deposit Slip. 3.5" x 8.5" November 22, 1881 deposit slip from the Agency Pima County Bank of Tombstone, acknowledging the receipt of $1000 from W. R. McLaury. Written just 27 days after the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in which Tom & Frank McLaury were killed. The notorious McLaury family were engaged in cattle rustling and stage hold-ups. They operated a ranch near Tombstone, in Sulphur Spring Valley. Endorsed by McLaury on verso. The spelling on the check and the endorsement leave no doubt as to the correct spelling of the family name which appears incorrectly in two Western books.

W.R. McLaury came up from Texas after the Gunfight, and became an important player in the events which followed. After the Earps' exoneration for the killings, he is widely believed to have been behind the vendetta which would leave Morgan Earp dead and Virgil maimed.
