    Description

The Old West: Utah Marshal's Badge. This 2.25" x 2.5" silver or silver-plated badge was worn by the Town Marshal of Ophir, Utah. It is a six-pointed badge, slightly convex, with beads at each point and a C-style pin attachment on the back side. The ornaments and background stippling appear to be hand-done and the piece exhibits light scratches and wear consistent with more than a century of use. It likely was produced shortly after Utah achieved statehood in 1896.
