    The Old West: Gold Mining Photos and Memorabilia. The items in this lot cover a number of years and various aspects of mining activity in the Western United States. It includes: 1) a 7" x 4.75" cabinet card of three miners posed in front their cabin in the Paloma Mining District of California in 1905, 2) a 7" x 5.25" cabinet card of two miners working their claim at the "Big '4' No. 56 Claim Placer" (corner stains and wear to mount), 3) a 9" x 7" mounted street-scene photo by A. Allen showing numerous residents, a flophouse, Allen's studio, Goldfield's Undertaking and Furniture establishment (discoloration and wear to mount, unknown Western locale), 4) a 12" x 9.5" mounted photo titled "Washing Gold Vancouver, British Columbia", 5) a 1939 stock certificate for 154 shares in Arizona's Sterling Gold Mining Corporation, and 6) a nice set of circa 1850 gold scales (missing weights) in a velvet-lined 6.5" x 3" green leather box with gold-stamped eagle on the cover.
