    Description

    Single-Mounted C.P. Shipley Spurs.
Large wagon wheel rowels on straight shanks with chap guards. Engraved silver overlays to shanks and heelbands. Crescent moon and stars motif almost identical to the example on page 211 of "Bits and Spurs In The Texas Tradition" by House et al. Swinging buttons with silver covers. Nicely tooled pass through straps with roller buckles.
Provenance: Roger and Linda Carpenter Collection.

Condition: Very good to fine. Showing a fair amount of honest boot wear to inside of heelbands which has softened the maker's mark partially. Mounts are all there and with scattered nicks and dents. Wonderful smooth brown age patina to unmounted surfaces. Rowels are replacements. Leathers are fine with a little dryness and age wear.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
