Sheriff's Warrant, Dated July 5, 1897, for the Arrest of Etta Clarke. 6¾" x 7 7/8" The charges state that she, "on or about the 11th day of March 1897 in the county of El Paso...was the owner of a house...and knowingly permitted said house to be kept....for prostitution: where prostitutes were permitted to resort and reside for the purpose of plying there [sic] vocation - against the peace and dignity of the state". Signed by Sheriff F. B. Simmons and Deputy W. J. Ten Eyck as having executed the warrant "the 2d day of July 1897 by arresting the within named Etta Clarke and placing her under bond". Madam Etta Clarke (nee Mercier) , with red hair, at five feet tall and with a "mean temper," became, in the 1880s, the most notorious "Madam" in El Paso, indeed probably in the entire southwest. In the infamous "Public [in reality, pubic] Arch Incident," Clarke shot a rival El Paso madam in a very delicate area. Her brothel, at one point, encompassed three stories with thirty-two rooms including two parlors, a large dining area, and a ballroom. Perfect condition and, as with the Hardin warrant a remarkable touchstone to the wildest of the "Wild West."

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
