S.D. Myres of El Paso, Texas: Drop Loop Side Holster and Money Belt. This rig has a fully tooled hand floral stamped drop loop or jock strap holster (Myres # 445) for a 5½" Colt SAA .44/45 with a loop for a wide belt. The roughed out money belt measures 41" to the center hole on the belt strap and adjusts from 39" at the smallest up to 43" at the largest. There are cartridge loops for twenty-five individual .44/45 caliber rounds. In the center of the holster, the tooled flower on the drop loop has the "S. D. Myres / El Paso" small mark. The 2¾" belt has the "S. D. Myres / El Paso, Tex." standard mark and a white metal buckle. Sam Myres opened his shop in Sweetwater, Texas in 1897 and moved to El Paso in 1919 where he became one of the country's best known makers of gun leather. The holster has moderate wear and a lovely patina. The belt shows light wear.
