    Rare Pair of Hand-Tooled Pommel Saddle Bags by Uribe, San Francisco. The black leather pair of pommel saddle bags, the outer cover flaps beautifully hand-tooled with floral motifs and border trim, with internal panels of black fur. Central maker stamp reading: D. Uribe & Co. /MAKERS/625 Montgy St./S.F. Right side compartment with holster appliquéd to pouch, with border stamping and reprise of maker label in center. Rosette at bottom. Left side with internal pouch, hand-tooled and having a small tongue closure. Maker stamp in center of pouch. Brass buckle security straps at bottom. Steel rings attached for securing bags to pommel. Size: 13-inches X 8 ¾-inches. Uribe was at one time partners with William Davis, at 421 Market St. Uribe is listed in 1870s San Francisco directories at the Montgomery street address. Condition: Good. Some dryness to leather and showing dying of leather and surface checking overall. Some losses to fur panels.
