Rare Inscribed Western Cartridge Money Belt and Matching Colt Single Action Single-Loop Holster Ensemble by Shelton-Payne Arms Co., El Paso, Texas. The medium brown leather western cartridge money belt with 44 cartridge loops and nickel clip-point buckle, stamped clearly on the end of the tongue: Shelton-Payne Arms Co./MAKERS/El Paso, Texas. Back of belt faintly inscribed: "F.H. Probert/L.A." Worthy of further research. Matching single-loop holster for a 4 ¾-inch barreled Colt single action revolver, similarly stamped boldly on the obverse. Length of belt: 35-inches. Condition: Belt. Good as configured. Some nickel studs added to belt, buckle and retainer appear repositioned and period riveted. Removal of some cartridge loops, wear to other loops and wear and checking overall. Holster very good. Showing light age wear and patina.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
