Pair of Silver Overlaid No. 400 Spurs by J.O. Bass Tulia, Texas.
Original and rare maker-marked No. 400 J.O. Bass spurs. 2 1/2-inch drop shank and 9-point, 2-inch rowels. Fine, matching engraved silver overlays over 1-inch bands. Fine old brown leather straps with square buckles.
According to Martin and House in their "Bit and Spur Makers InThe Texas Tradition", (page 64) J.O. Bass products are known for quality and unique markings. In a time when few makers marked their work, Bass meticulously stamped the off side of the right spur with the Tulia address. His customers included Texas Rangers. c1910.

Condition: Very good. Normal age wear and nice age patina.

Provenance: The Roger and Linda Carpenter Collection.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
