J.T. IRICK OF CASPER, WYOMING PISTOL HOLSTER AND BELT - ca. 1920. This is a really nice late "Cheyenne-style" double loop holster by J.T. Irick of Casper, Wyoming. The holster is fully basket weave tooled, including the loops and skirt, and has an oval cartouche marked on the inside of the skirt, "J.T. Irick - Maker - Casper, Wyo." The holster comes with a matching tooled pattern belt marked, "Brigham's patent" which has the bullet loop strip sewn through the belt as one solid piece of leather, not stitched on the front. The holster is for a large frame pistol, a 7-1/2" Colt Single Action Army fits snugly, and the cartridge loops are for a .45 caliber. The belt and holster are in good condition, the holster has a minor repair to the right of the loops on the skirt that is very hard to see.

J.T. Irick was born in Gainesville, Texas in 1889 and worked in his father's leather shop in Blackburn, Oklahoma. He later moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming and worked in the famous F. A. Meanea shop for several years before starting his own shop in Casper, Wyoming about 1920. He is considered the chief apprentice to F.A. Meanea's work. He retired to the Rattlesnake Mountains of Wyoming in about 1935.

Special Thanks to Carla Edwards of Wyoming for this information.
