    Description

Cabinet Card Photograph Cheyenne Chief Two Moons, Dakota Territory, ca. 1880s. Very scarce photograph of Two Moons proudly standing in the studio of S. F. Morrow, Yankton, Dakota Territory. The North Cheyenne Chief is wearing a full length headdress and great beaded moccasins. Measures approximately 4.25" x 6.50". Two Moons participated in the Battle of the Little Bighorn and was later one of the three models for the U.S. "Buffalo" or "Indian Head" five cent coin.

According to GNA's website (), Chief "Two Moons" would later say that to defeat Custer it took about as long as it takes a hungry man to eat his dinner, and that meal began when, in a combined cavalry and infantry maneuver, Crow King, He Dog, Yellow Nose, Chief Comes in Sight and White Shield inspired the attack that overran the Finley-Finkle position at approximately 4:50 pm.

    Condition:
Very good-fine, very nice contrast, has an upper left corner bump.
