Very Fine June 13, 1850-Dated Overland Letter from "Fort Laramie Siox [Sic] & Crow Territory." Three full pages, written in pencil. Thomas J. Oxley writes of their progress and status on the way to Sacramento, California. They have been joined by some families from Platte County, he notes, and he finds "the society of ladies" to be very agreeable! The letter is written from a point 700 miles west of their departure from Fort Leavenworth, a journey which took one month. It is not an easy journey, and Oxley writes that he has had "... a great deal to perplex and dishearten me since I left the States, but I go on regardless of everything and hope to get through it all safely." If all goes well he hopes to be in California is another 50 days, which would be well ahead of winter storms. Integral address panel on back of third page is stamped in red "STEAM 10," possibly suggesting that it was posted by steamboat. 7.5" x 9.5". Very good condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
