    Description

    Lot of 3 Photographs of Gibsonville, California. The first image, 8.75" x 6.5" and mounted to a board to an overall size of 12" x 10", depicts twenty-eight members of the Native Sons of the Golden West, Golden Anchor Parlor 182, in front of the Gibsonville (California) Masonic hall. The NSGW was founded in 1875 to maintain the memory of the men and women from California's Gold Rush. The image is moderately scratched with slight chipping along the left edge; light staining. Lower right corner of the board is damaged.
    The second photograph measures 5" x 7" and is mounted to an overall size of 7" x 9.25". It features a gathering of men and women in front, and on the balconies of, F. S. Spencer's Gibsonville Hotel. The facade of the hotel is decorated with American flags and other symbols of American patriotism. The image is taken on the fourth of July, but the year is unknown. Slight water stain at the upper right corner.
    The third photograph is identified as "John Grossman, Tight-rope Walker, Gibsonville, Cal., July 4th, 1892" along the bottom of the image. Grossman walks along the tight rope above a crowd of men, women, and children. Measuring 8.75" x 6.75" and mounted to an overall size of 11.75" x 10", the board features the ink stamp of photographer Gustave H. Shubert in the lower left. The image is scratched diagonally from the upper left to the right edge. Additional small scratches are found throughout. Lower corner of the board is damaged.
