[Nevada Mining]. New York Mining Company Ledger. Contains 340 pages of "Receipts and Disbursements" and correspondence spanning the years 1887 through 1908. Found in a 492 page leather bound, ledger copy book, information includes monetary totals for payroll, materials (water, lumber, hardware, etc.), expenses (hiring of watchmen, hauling, surveying, assaying, legal services, etc.) and the payment of taxes. Based in Virginia City, Nevada, the heart of Comstock Lode mining operations, materials and services were purchased from local companies such as the Virginia & Gold Hill Water Co., the Sierra Nevada Wood & Lumber Co., Wheeler Hall & Co., the Virginia & Truckee Railroad, the Chollar Mining Co., the Fulton Foundry, and others.

Correspondence begins on page 323 and spans June 5, 1907, through December 11, 1908. All letters are addressed to William Bannan, President of the Consolidated New York Mining Company, from Superintendent William G. Douglass (who was concurrently serving as Nevada Secretary of State). The letters concern the drafting of funds on the Favor Agency Bank of California to cover monthly expenses.

Over half of the spine covering is detached and the boards are heavily worn and soiled.
