Four Cabinet Card Photographs of Indian Children on Cradle Boards, ca. 1880s-1890s. A cradle board is a typical North American baby carrier used to keep babies secure and comfortable and at the same time allowing the mothers freedom to work and travel. The cradleboards were attached to the mother's back with straps from the shoulder or the head. For travel, cradleboards could be hung on a saddle or travois.

Lot consists of four cabinet cards of Native American Indian children in Cradle boards. Three images are Nez Perce / Umatilla Indians, with beautiful floral bead work on the boards. The last one is a Ute Indian board with great bead work also. The only one with identification is the photographer Nast from Denver, Colorado. This image shows Sevara family members, photographed by Detroit Photograph Company. All image mounts measure approximately 4.5" x 6.5".

Very good - fine, some light foxing, mounts have wear.
