    F. Mueller of Denver, Colorado: Vintage Side Holster and Money Belt. This rig has a border tooled double loop holster (Mueller # 176) for a Colt 1894/95 pistol and a wide money belt. The belt measures 33½" to the center hole on the belt strap and adjusts from 31½" at the smallest up to 35½" at the largest. There are cartridge loops for thirty-six individual .38 caliber rounds. On the top loop of the holster is stamped "F. Mueller/ Maker/ Denver, Co" and on the bottom loop, the stamped number "176". Mueller opened his shop in 1891, sold his shop to his employees in 1917, and died in 1924. The 2.75" belt is unmarked except for the numbers "3030" [?] and "50". Both the belt and holster show heavy wear. The stitching on the ammunition loops is weak and the stitching at the top of the belt is split. The open toe holster has been re-stitched, still, a very good rig.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
