William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody & Annie Oakley: A Collection of Six Glass Paperweights in Superb Condition. Each of these is scarce in its own right, but we felt that because of the condition, so rarely encountered on paperweights of this type, they should remain together. Five of the six are from a series undoubtedly intended for sale as souvenirs when the Wild West performed at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago: 1) Cody portrait, dated 1893. 2) Cody standing, leaning on his Winchester. 3) Cody and Gen. Nelson Miles on the bluff overlooking the site of Wounded Knee. 4) The show's Overland Mail stagecoach, with drivers, full team and Native American performers. 5) Annie Oakley in classic pose holding her rifle. These five are marked " Abrams Paper Weight Co., Pittsburgh, Pa. Pat. Nov. 29,'92." The sixth in the group lot is a square example depicting a large gathering with the caption " Old Forty Garry and Buffalo Bill 1910" and carries no maker's name. An outstanding collection. From the Collection of the Late Edward C. Gillette.
