DescriptionO. K. Corral: A Very Rare Receipt from the Famous Location, Signed Twice by Proprietor John Montgomery. One of probably fewer than ten known examples, it came, like most if not all known copies, from the legendary John Gilchriese collection. It is accompanied by a three page handwritten letter of provenance from Gilchriese, undated, but circa the early 1980s.
There are actually two varieties of these printed receipts, both equally rare. None is dated from the time of the gunfight. The earliest known is from 1883, and it still identifies the proprietors as "Montgomery & Benson." On this 1885 version Montgomery is identified as the sole proprietor, and he has signed at the bottom in pencil and on verso in ink. 8.5" x 4.5", and in great condition.
