    Description

    "Early Years"

    Crockett Spurs with Lazy Hearts.
Having the big 1 1/4-inch inside mark: CROCKETT puts this pair in the "early years" of Crockett production. According to Adamson, House and Martin in "Bits & Spurs In The Texas Tradition" page 122, the Crockett mark in this location (# 1) dates these spurs to 1925-35. 2 1/4-inch, 6-point rowels on a slightly turned down shank. 3-piece engraved silver overlays on the shanks have been there 80-90 years and almost look like inlays. Same engraving pattern on lazy heart overlays on bands. Fixed Crockett buttons with 4 quadrant pattern. Plain brown 2-piece leathers. One with roller buckle.
Provenance: Roger and Linda Carpenter Collection.

Condition: Very good for their age. Iron with a mostly smooth brown age patina with some very fine pitting and traces of surface rust. Overlays are fine showing previously mentioned age wear and some scattered dents. Leather is good but showing some dryness. One billet a later repair/replacement.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
