Buffalo Bill Wild West: Spectacular "1884" Program for 1886-1887 Show. For the winter season of 1886-1887, before taking the Wild West to England, Buffalo Bill and his partner, Nate Salsbury, rented Madison Square Garden for a spectacular new kind of show. With a script by Steele MacKaye and special effects by Matt Morgan, they launched a pageant based on what Cody said was his favorite passage from literature, "Westward the course of empire takes its way." The program for the 1884 and 1885 seasons was adapted to this new production and inside is called "A History of American Civilization." The program is very rare and, in such excellent condition, may be unique.
