Colt Single Action Army Revolver and Winchester Model 1873 Carbine. The Colt firearm was the trusted companion of the Texas Rangers, Texas cattlemen, cowboys, and the U.S. Cavalry from 1873 thru the 1940s. Every Texas sheriff, marshall, and lawman in Texas used this gun with deadly effort and their adversaries feared their opponents expertise. This Colt pistol was also the weapon of choice because it fired the same cartridge as the Winchester 1873 rifle or carbine. In a conflict, this represented state of the art firepower. This colt single action SN. 66773, 7 1/2" barrel, 44-40, left the Colt factory in 1881 and probably saw extensive use on the western frontier. This gun is in excellent condition. All serial numbers match, the one piece walnut grips retain over 50% of their original varnish. There are traces of original blue on the ejector rod housing and there are no replaced parts. The etched panel "Colt Frontier Six Shooter" is still legible on the barrel with the patent dates correct on the frame and the one line Hartford address on the barrel.

The Winchester firearm has the reputation along with the Colt single action as "the gun that won the West". This gun was light, efficient, and a multi-shot repeater that fired the same cartridge as the Colt single action. It was widely used with deadly force from 1873 through the 1890s. This particular firearm Model 1873, SN #267328, left the Winchester factory in 1888. All carbines had a 20" round barrel and this 1873 carbine is a 44-40. The original saddle ring is intact and the original cleaning rod still in the buttstock. The stocks are in excellent original condition retaining 40% original varnish. All serial numbers match. There are no replaced parts and the gun retains 35-40% original blue with correct barrel markings, caliber designations, and original sights. This model is exceedingly hard to find and is genuine and authentic in every aspect. Courtesy of J. P. Bryan, Houston. Consigned Lot
