    Description

Colt Single Action Army Revolver Accompanied by Colt Factory Letter. Caliber .45. Serial number 148979. All visible numbers matching. 4.75" round barrel. The original blued finish has been buffed and cleaned. The right grip is worn smooth in places, otherwise it is original and retains an extremely strong action. The letter from Colt confirms that this pistol was shipped to J. C. Petmecky of Austin, Texas on December 23, 1892. Further research indicates that Joseph C. Petmecky was born in Germany in 1842. Petmecky's name shows up on the roster of the Texas 33rd Cavalry during the Civil War. After the war he was a music teacher in Austin.
