    Cabinet Card of Miss Sickles and Little Chief at Pine Ridge Agency, ca. 1890s. Very scarce cabinet card view by Butcher & Orvis of West Union, Nebraska. Miss E. C. Sickles consents, at his request, to have her picture taken with Little Chief in his war bonnet, pipe bag and great beaded moccasins. Miss Sickles was the superintendent of the Ogalla Boarding School. Printed on verso is "Photographing Indians S.D. Butcher and H. C. Orvis of West Union, Custer County, Nebraska, returned from the land of the Indian insurrection where they secured negatives form over forty of the finest views of the Pine Ridge Agency, between 6th and 11th of January 1891. These pictures will be especially appreciated by the general public when it is taken into consideration the narrow risks they took of getting their 'hair Lifted' for going into bloody mess, but they got there all samee and all samee got away, with negatives worth thousands of dollars 'West Union Gazette.'" Measures approximately 4.25" x 6.5".
