    C. N. Notewan. Autograph Document Signed, Nevada Territory, Indian Uprising, ca. 1860s. C. N. Notewan, Autographed Document Signed as Secretary of State. Three folio pages measuring 8" x 12.5". A "Memorial" to the United States Congress dated at Carson City, Nevada, March 9, 1867, soliciting financial relief for the volunteers from California that helped put down the Indian uprising in 1860 An excerpt reads as follows: "The Indians inhabiting the western portion of 'Utah Territor' now organized as the state of Nevada became hostile towards the white settlers and it was necessary to call volunteers from California at a time when the snows over the Sierra Nevada's were almost impassible." Large State of Nevada Seal next to autograph. Early official manuscripts from Nevada are quite rare, especially with Native American content.

    Condition:
    Fine-very fine, document has some separation in folds.
