Buffalo Bill's Wild West: The Sought-After Classic "White Eagle" Poster. Esteemed far beyond the circles of Western Americana collecting as one of the great examples of late nineteenth century stone lithography. Nine-color printing with extensive use of metallic gold, by A. Hoen & Co., Baltimore. It depicts Cody as a scout for a wagon train, shown in the background. A white eagle soars in the sky above, a reference to Cody's nickname, "The White Eagle." This 19.75" x 25" poster is quite rare and considered a "must have" for the advanced Buffalo Bill collector. It was originally designed in 1893 for Cody's show in conjunction with the Columbian Exhibition in Chicago.

The present example of this great poster displays beautifully, but on close inspection one can detect some restoration of tears to the border, and there remain some fairly subtle light wrinkles in the paper. However, one really has to look for these minor drawbacks. Elegantly custom-framed to 27" x 33.5".
