101 Ranch Group, Including a Colt Six-Shooter Modified to Shoot Blanks. The single-action, serial # 190242 (numbers match) has been modified to fire blanks. The barrel has been shortened, and a large hole has been drilled in the top of the barrel to allow smoke to pour out to greater effect during performances. At one time there was a pin across the inside of the bore to make sure no dangerous material would emerge intact. However, the pin has been removed, leaving evidence of its presence. The gun is stamped "101" on both the frame and the underside of the butt strap.

Although showing a good original patina of use, it exhibits a smooth surface and even gray color, with much original bluing remaining on the cylinder. Accompanying the gun are a fine original leather holster with German silver studs by Shirley of Kansas City, a Miller-signed cancelled 101 Ranch check, four brass merchant's tokens in 10¢ - 25¢ denominations issued for use in the 101 Ranch Store, and a 10 Bucks 101 Ranch "currency" note. The coins are mint and unissued. The currency note is stamped "Terrapin Derby Only" on the verso. This was a big event on the 101 Ranch. People would come from all around and bet on which turtle would cross the line first in the Terrapin Derby. The 101 Ranch was so large that it had its own currency for use at the numerous facilities on the ranch.
