    "Soapy" Smith: Skagway, Alaska Archive. Jefferson Randolph "Soapy" Smith, was a notorious con artist and crime lord who operated in the western United States at the end of the 19th century. He was heavily involved in organized crime in Denver and Creede, Colorado, before moving to the gold rush town of Skagway, Alaska, which he unofficially ran, and routinely robbed, until his death in the infamous shootout on Juneau Wharf in 1898. This lot includes four real photo post cards of Smith and gang members, five real photo postcards of Skagway, a real photo postcard titled "The Trail of '98",a 6" x 4" silver print photo of the Skagway Street Car tour bus, a 7.25" x 4.25" photo of Skagway harbor by Frank La Roche, two booklets sold to people who rode the Skagway Street Car tour and a 1974 Skagway souvenir bronze token.
