[Nevada Gold Mining] Three 1906 Photos Documenting the Initial Discovery of Gold at Round Mountain, Nevada Taken by Pioneer Gold Field Photographer, Alfred Allen. Each photo measures about 8" x 6". These images document the first discovery of gold prior to the formation of Round Mountain, Nevada located in Nye County. The photos show miners, tents, ore being sacked, rudimentary mining equipment and armed guards standing sentry with rifles to protect the discovery site. The town was originally called Gordon, named after the discoverer of the big strike, that ore being guarded in one of the photographs. Each photo is captioned in the negative - one captioned "Big Strike on Round Mt. Guarding Gordon's Ground"; the other two captioned "Big Strike on Round Mt. Scott-Morgan-Morris Lease". The photos were taken in early 1906 by Goldfield, Nevada's first photographer, Alfred Allen. He had arrived with the first discovery in 1902 and seemed to have an affinity for documenting early Nevada strikes. He had clearly heard rumors of a new discovery near Manhattan and quickly traveled there to take these shots. They represent the earliest known images of not only Round Mountain, but also the only known documentation of armed guards protecting the discovery at the site. Three important photographs that detail the early discovery of (Gordon) Round Mountain previously without a photographic record. Mounting remnants on the front with some modest cracking to the emulsion, else very good condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
