Space Shuttle Embroidered Mission Insignia Patch Collection. At least one patch from each of the first 120 shuttle missions is neatly contained in this nicely slipcased custom binder. Some flights are represented by multiple patches, for a total of approximately 130 patches. One of the STS-51-L patches is an original as obtained from a Rockwell employee, quite rare as such. One of the STS-70 patches is the humorous, unofficial "Woody Woodpecker" version created by JSC employees after a pair of woodpeckers tried to burrow into the spray-on foam insulation of the shuttle's external tank. Enough damage was done that the launch assembly had to be rolled back into the vehicle assembly building for repairs, delaying the flight. There are only 200 known of this variant. A magnificent group of these colorful flight souvenirs, all in pristine condition. Examples from only the last fifteen missions (chronologically) need to be added to make this a complete collection.
