Description

    Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-3): Tire Marks Display Directly from the Personal Collection of Astronaut John Young, Signed and Certified. A 4.5" x 3" x 1" clear acrylic display containing two small (0.625" long) pieces of blackened sand on either side of an STS-3 landing photo above the text: "Actual tire marks left on the White Sands Space Harbor (Northrup Strip) runway during the March 30, 1982 landing of the Space Shuttle Orbiter STS-3 'Columbia'". On the verso is the text: "White Sands Test Facility/ In commemoration of the first space vehicle lading at the White Sands Space Harbor, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico/ Astronauts: Lousma; Fullerton/ Vehicle: Space Shuttle 'Columbia' - STS-3/ Date: March 30, 1982"." Young has signed on the top edge: "From My Collection/ John W. Young". A great souvenir of still the only Space Shuttle landing in New Mexico. Excellent condition with minor light wear on the bottom.
