Description

    Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-3) Flown Pen, Pencil, and Marker Set Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Jack Lousma, with Signed COA. Rarely offered as a set, here are the writing instruments used by Lousma on the third orbital test flight of the Space Shuttle program, March 22-30, 1982. Included: Pencil- A slim chrome-colored mechanical pencil, Garland Model 35-P, manufactured by Lew Manufacturing Co. of Coventry, Rhode Island. The Part Number "SEB12100081-301" and the Serial Number "1222" are both engraved into the barrel. Added at the top is a piece of Velcro to facilitate attachment and storage; Data Recording Pen- A chrome-colored retractable ballpoint pen with a pressurized black ink cartridge, Fisher Space Pen Model AG-7, with top side button retractor. The Part Number "SEB12100051-208" and the Serial Number "1257" are both engraved in the top clip area near the piece of Velcro; Marker Pen- A brushed finish, aluminum felt-tip pen with a removable cap, Rocket model, manufactured by the Duro Pen Co. of Brooklyn, New York. The Part Number "SEB12100082-301" and the Serial Number "1???" are both printed on the barrel. Added at the top is a piece of Velcro. All are in excellent condition save for some dents in the marker; the cap on the Space pen is a bit loose.

    Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Jack Lousma" on his letterhead, stating (in full): "I hereby certify that the accompanying silver metal pencil (Serial Number 1222), silver metal pen (Serial Number 1257) and brushed aluminum marker (P/N SEB12100082-30, S/N 1???), were all used by me and flown aboard STS-3 March 22-30, 1982. They have been in my possession since the mission."
