    "We make house calls"

Skylab: Parasol Fabric Swatch and Set of Humorous SL-2 Crew Business Cards. A 2.5" x 3.75" laminated card with a 0.625" x 0.5" swatch of red material and the text: "Presented In Appreciation For Your Role In The Skylab Program. This Small Portion Of Material Is The Same As That Which The Skylab Crew Installed To Shield Skylab From The Sun, Thereby Assuring Its Habitability And The Capability To Proceed With The Skylab Mission". It is made out to "Richard C. Proffitt" and bears the tiny facsimile signatures of all nine Skylab astronauts. Their photos are on the verso. Included is the letter of transmittal from NASA director Kurt Debus explaining the problem with the Skylab and the mission to repair it. Both in excellent condition.

Also in this lot is a set of three hilarious and original PJ & P REPAIR SERVICE "business cards," one from each crewmember of Skylab 1. Along with a line drawing of an open umbrella labeled "NASA" is the text: "Specialists in Orbiting Laboratories/ willing to work Shuttle problems/ Experienced in unplugging Solar panels/ Expert Umbrella erectors/ We Make House Calls". The mission commander, "Charles 'Pete' Conrad, Jr", is titled on his card "Service Manager". "Paul J. Weitz" and "Dr. Joseph P. Kerwin" are both titled "Serviceman" on their cards. A perfect example of astronaut humor. We have never seen these before. Excellent condition save for some uneven toning. From the estate of NASA engineer Richard C. Proffitt, Launch Complex 39 Operations Manager from 1969 to 1976.
