    Description

Pair of 1961 Soviet Cosmonaut Gloves from the world's first spacesuit SK-1 (Vostok program), the same type as Yuri Gagarin used. The gloves are orange nylon with gray leather palms, with a metal ring cuff and clamp. There is a date from 1961 on the inside, along with some undiscernible writing. The first space flight was a secret preparation and these are almost unheard of in private hands. The leather palms of the gloves show some wear. Soviet cosmonauts were the first humans in space aboard their Vostok capsules. Vostok 1, launched on April 12, 1961, carried the first person in space, Yuri Gagarin. Vostok 2 carried Gherman Titov, who stayed in space for twenty-five hours.
