Beautiful see-through color schematics of the LM, noting 118 separate parts.

NASA/Grumman Apollo Lunar Module Transgraphic Brochure. Printed in Germany, circa 1967, for Grumman Aerospace Corporation, this 8" x 10" booklet contains eight clear acetate sheets, each printed in color on both sides, stapled inside a gray folder with a fold-out flap on the back cover detailing the legend for the 118 parts numbered on the various overlays. The last remaining supply of these booklets went to Japan with Lunar Module 7½ in 1976, a model built by Grumman out of an old CBS mock-up and exhibited at the 1976 Space Exposition. Rarely offered. Excellent condition.

In Chariots for Apollo, by Charles Pellegrino & Joshua Stoff (New York: Avon Books, 1999, page 276), Apollo engineer Joel Taft described the handing out of the schematics in Japan: "In Bethpage I found some of the original LM brochures. They were the beautiful color ones with the plastic overlays. I took about a thousand of them with me to Japan. I asked the interpreter to go around and ask each of the workers [on the Space Expo] how many children he had. Then I went around and gave them enough for their kids. From that moment, you couldn't catch them. They were working so fast and so hard." From the collection of scientist and author Charles Pellegrino.
