Photos taken on the first manned Gemini mission.

Gemini 3 (Molly Brown): Twenty Glass Slides, First Generation Duplicates from Film Flown on the Mission, Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Pilot John Young, Signed and Certified. Still in the original Kodak "Lantern Slide Cover Glass" boxes, offered here are twenty rare positive images, 4" x 3.25", from America's first two-man space mission. Young has signed on the front of each box: "From My Personal/ Collection/ John W. Young". Written on the back of the first box is: "S-65-18742/ thru/ S-65-18751/ GT-3/ 10 of 25 Views". On the other box is written: "S-65-18752/ thru/ S-65-18761/ GT-3/ 10 of 25 Views". Excellent condition overall.

On Gemini 3, photography was not one of the scientific objectives, but the crew of Gus Grissom and John Young did take twenty-five photos during their three orbit flight. The equipment used was a modified Hasselblad 500C camera with an 80mm Zeiss Planar F/2.8 lens; their film was Ektachrome MS. A rare opportunity. Heritage sold the first five slides in this series in our November 2010 Space Exploration auction #6045 (Lot 41009) for $2100.00.
