    Description

    Apollo 15 Flown National Flag of Portugal Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Al Worden, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA. A 5.5" x 4.125" cloth flag of the Portuguese Republic that flew to the moon and back aboard Apollo 15. The design is an unequal vertical bicolor of green (hoist) and red (fly). Centered on the boundary is the coat of arms. Worden has signed in the lower right corner: "Flown to the Moon on Apollo 15/ Al Worden CMP". Excellent condition.

    Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Al Worden" on his letterhead, stating (in part): "I hereby certify that this flag from Portugal included with this letter went to the moon aboard Apollo 15 in the spacecraft 'ENDEAVOUR'. It remained in the command module during the lunar orbit phase of the flight."
