Apollo 15: Award Sabre Presented to the Crew by the U.S. Air Force Academy Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Al Worden, with Signed LOA. All three crewmen of the Apollo 15 mission were Air Force officers so it was only natural that they would be specially recognized by the Air Force Academy soon after their return from the moon. Offered here is a beautiful three-dimensional wooden 45" x 12" x 1.5" presentation display bearing a 33" sword engraved on the blade: "U.S. Air Force Academy", the matching metal scabbard, a 22" long metal elevation of the academy, and an engraved plate of 8" x 2.25", reading: "Presented to Astronauts/ James B. Irwin - David R. Scott - Alfred M. Worden/ By/ The Air Force Cadet Wing/ with Pride and Profound Appreciation of the/ 'All Air Force' Flight of Apollo 15/ 24 September 1971/ United States Air Force Academy/ 'Home of the Falcons'". A wonderful and unique item for display. Excellent condition.

Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Al Worden" on his letterhead, stating (in part): "I hereby certify that this United States Air Force Academy Sabre was given to me at a ceremony after the flight of Apollo 15 in 1971. The crew was all Air Force, and had deep connections with the Air Force Academy, and the presentation was made at the Academy. The sabre is inscribed to the crew of Apollo 15. It has been in my possession since that time."

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
