Ship's Log Book, 1846-1847. Approximately 35 pre-printed pages, 8.5" x 13.5", various locations at sea and in port, October 1847 to March 1848. Cardboard wrappers. Ship's log contains the day-to-day reports of weather conditions, events on board, loading and unloading of cargo, etc., and begins mid-sea for the "Schooner Don Nicholas, from Calais for Baltimore, Rowland York, Master." The ship's course is erratic, the logbook showing travel from Calais to Baltimore to Portland to St. Iago De Cuba (Santiago, Cuba) to New York to Portland to St. Iago to Manzanillo to Boston to Portland and finally back to Baltimore, carrying such cargo as bushels of corn, molasses, sugar, tobacco, etc. Spine, cover, and corners are well worn; mild toning and dampstaining; several pages have been cut out.
