Ron Woods Original 48" x 60" Painting of Jack Lousma During a Skylab EVA. A breathtaking, life-size oil painting of Skylab II (SL-3) Mission Pilot Jack Lousma in his EMU spacesuit with amazingly realistic detail. Woods, a long-time NASA employee, talks about this work: "The 'Lousma' oil was painted in 1981. It is an oil on linen cloth, the linen primed with gesso. The image was painted from a NASA photo, one of my favorites from the Skylab missions. Since I supported those missions as a suit technician, I had a real interest to paint it on a large scale. As you can see, I like painting space suits with the American Flag." When asked about the hardest part of this painting, he replied: "Getting the lighting effects. It was important to give the spacesuit a glow because of the sunlight reflecting off the station." Up until just recently, this painting hung at the Flight Crew Systems Facility at Kennedy Space Center for nearly thirty years, where it has been admired by many. The winning bid will allow it to be admired by the guests in your home or office for many more years. Excellent condition.

Ron Woods has worked in the space program since 1967. All through the Apollo program he worked as a Space Suit Technician. His job was to take care of all of the spacesuits. This included all of the maintenance and suiting up the astronauts for their assigned missions. He dressed Buzz Aldrin for the Apollo 11 mission and Jim Lovell before Apollo 8, and aided the crew of the Apollo-Soyuz flight and the first two space shuttle missions. He later became involved with the development of the Space Shuttle spacesuits. A graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in Fine Arts, Ron has been painting for many years with a specialty in space hardware. He once said, "To me, there's nothing more artistic than a spacesuit. They're just real interesting pieces of hardware to me and I just started painting them."

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
