    Relics: Nine Relics Related to Ships and Shipwrecks, from the Collection of J. S. Reigart, including: a block of wood, 3.5" x 1.75", with the penciled inscription, "Keel of Sloop Atlantic", the Atlantic, was built to defend the America's Cup in 1886; a length of hemp rope with an affixed tag, "Valkyrie III Wed. Aug. 21, 1895", the Valkyrie III was the unsuccessful British challenger of the ninth America's Cup race in 1895; a block of wood with a turned tip, 5.25" long, with an attached label and note identifying the piece as coming from the derelict schooner Adelaide J. Olcott, abandoned by her crew during a midsummer hurricane in 1895; a turned wood ornament, 3.5" long, with a note to the bottom, "1st Raft of Logs / Blizzard March 1888", from the devastating blizzard that hit New York City in March 1888 depositing snow as deep as 58" in areas of the city; a block of wood with a turned top, 4.5", with several attached notes, one of which reads, "Ocean floating Derelict. Cape Hatteras, Nov. 1894"; a similar piece of wood, only larger, 6.75" long, again with several notes, including one that reads, "Ocean Floating Derelict From Pacific Ocean A.D. 1886"; a turned wood ornament, 3.5" long, with a label on the bottom, "Westernland, Nov. 27, 1886", the Red Star Line Steamer Westernland was struck by towering waves enroute to New York, killing six and injuring thirteen; another turned wood ornament, 3" long, with a label, "2nd Raft of Logs / August 11, 1888"; a small plank of painted wood, 5.25" x 2", upon which is written, "on board the Yacht Vigilant, Tuesday, May 15, 1894, ____ ____, J.S.R.".
