Photographs of Dr. Hugo Eckener at the 1929 Cleveland National Air Races. Two black-and-white press photographs of Dr. Hugo Eckener, commander of the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin on the dais at the 1929 National Air Race in Cleveland. These photos would have been taken shortly after Eckener's historic round the world flight in the LZ 127. One photograph is 8" x 10", featuring a dour-faced Eckener smoking a cigarette about to address the gathered crowd. There is a type press photo caption affixed to the back of the photo. The other photo, 10" x 8", shows a smiling Eckener, cigar in hand, shaking hands with a local lovely. Both photos are in very good condition. Included is a nice 14" x 11" photograph of the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin with an inset portrait of Dr. Eckener. The photograph bears the mark of the Mission Photographic Service Company of Los Angeles. The margins of the photograph are chipped in a few spots and small portion of the upper corners are missing, else it is in very good condition. From the collection of Cliff Henderson.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
