    "Steamboat 'Round the Bend!"

Mississippi Steamboat Archive. This is an interesting group of items related to two steamboats that plied the waters of the Mississippi in the 19th century. Besides Currier & Ives prints, there is little material still extant dealing with this piece of the American narrative. The group includes: 10" x 13" albumen on 22" x 18" titled mount of the "New Orleans and Greenville Packet. Str. Frank Pargoud, J. M. White, Master" which carried cotton from New Orleans on a weekly basis (fading to photo, discoloration and wear to mount), a similar albumen on untitled mount depicting the steamer "J. M. White" (many African American workers shown on the dock), five stereo views of the U. S. Mail Packet J. M. White published by H. G. Norman of Natchez (slight fading and spotting), five 20th century reprint photos of the J. M. White, pair of 5 1/4" silver-plated candlestick bases inscribed J. F.P. [J. F. Pargoud], plus a leather sheet music album gold-stamped on cover "Presented to Steamer J. F. Pargoud By D. P. Faulds & Co. Publishers of Sheet Music and Dealers in Piano Fortes, Louisville, Ky." (covers reattached).
