DescriptionGemini 11 Flown Sterling Silver Fliteline Medallion Directly from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Jack Lousma, with Signed COA. A 21mm x 29mm shield-shaped silver medal with the mission insignia on the obverse is one of possibly only 100-200 minted. This medallion was flown aboard Gemini 11 with crewmembers Pete Conrad and Richard Gordon during September 12-15, 1966. The design includes the Roman numeral "XI," the Agena target vehicle, the orbital apogee path, and a spacewalking astronaut. On the reverse, above the "Sterling" hallmark, is engraved the mission and its dates. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Jack Lousma" on his letterhead, stating (in part): "The silver colored Gemini 11 medal, known as a Fliteline medal, that accompanies this letter was flown aboard the Gemini 11 mission... As a member of the Astronaut Office, I was permitted to purchase a flown medal for this mission. It is from my personal collection and has been in my possession since receiving it just after the mission."
