Frank Baldwin: Extensive Album of Ephemera, Railroad Passes, etc. 7" x 12.5" suede covered album titled: "General Orders. June 15th 1877 to Sept. 7th 1877." This was the property of two-time Medal of Honor Winner Frank D. Baldwin. Rather than containing printed general orders, it is filled with ephemera collected by Baldwin in the post-Civil War years, when he served at several "frontier" outposts. Many of the items reflect the social activities for higher ranked army personnel, such as banquets, dances, etc. There are calling cards, menus, invitations, trolley & train tickets, re-union & concert programs and railroad passes. All are pasted in the album. There are many business cards, signed and not signed, by military suppliers, travel agents and members of the European aristocracy. The Baldwin family did the "grand tour" of Europe and saved many mementoes. Some random "highlights": a multicolored steamship card for "Jennie Lewis", famous photographer Samuel Fassett's business card, signed cards and notes from Nelson Miles, Alfred Terry calling card, 1880 dance card from Ft. Keogh, invitation to reception for General Miles & Staff, ticket to the Crystal Palace, guest passes for the Century & Lotus clubs, William Tecumseh Sherman calling card, 1883 invitation to the opening of the "Northern Pacific Railroad Pavilion", invitation for W. T. Sherman reception, C.R.I. & P.R.R. railroad pass, 1873 Detroit and Windsor Ferry R.R. employee pass, 1879 ticket for free transmission over U. S. Telegraph lines, Palmer House meal ticket, 1873 Cincinnati Hamilton & Dayton R.R. Co. pass, Benton Line steamer pass, Yellowstone Line steamer pass, Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway pass, 1884 visitor's passes to the U. S. Senate and House of Representatives, 1884 Oregon Railway Navigation Company pass, 1884 Alberta Lea Route railroad pass, 1882 Missouri Pacific Railway Company pass, numerous single trip passes for the Northern Pacific Railroad plus a season pass from 1884. The last item in the album is a telegram from O. J. Salisbury to General Miles at Fort Keogh, inscribed: "This will pass yourself and Capt. Baldwin from Fort Keogh to Bozeman also from Virginia City to Terminus V. & N. R.R." Truly the best album of its type we have ever seen!

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
