Charles Pellegrino's Original Handwritten First Draft for Chapter Fifty-Four of His Book, Chariots for Apollo. Approximately sixty full pages of handwritten text with another twenty+ pages partially filled, all contained in a 5.5" x 8.5" journal-type book titled My Jedi Journal: A Special Diary for Jedi Knights-In-Training (New York: Ballantine Books, 1983). This was written in January 1984 and consists of what would be chapter fifty-four of the book (and a portion of chapter fifty-five). This chapter is titled "Sorry to Interrupt the Festivities, But We Have a Problem" and discusses the Apollo 13 mission. Very fine condition.

The book was written in a series of blank notebooks remaindered from Ballantine's 1982 movie tie-in, Jedi Journals, within a time frame that included Charles Pellegrino's and James Powell's first designs at Brookhaven National Laboratory for the Valkyrie relativistic rocket (which their colleagues had affectionately named, "the Jedi Project"; hence the pile of blank Jedi Journals). Isaac Asimov was shocked to hear that Pellegrino (one of his favorite authors) wrote all of his first drafts long-hand. "I've heard of people like that," he said. "But I always thought they came from other planets." From the collection of scientist and author Charles Pellegrino.
