SR-71A Blackbird (#64-17967): Removed Access Cover Panel with Associated Patches Attached, Made into a Wall Clock. A great display item from one of the most amazing aircraft ever designed and built. Offered here is an odd-shaped black aluminum alloy panel of 17.5" x 15" overall dimensions. There are multiple screw holes all around the perimeter and a cutout at lower right. Stamped on the back is the part number "12K3002-803". Written in silver ink on the front is the following: "'Blackbird'/ USAF SR-71A #64-17967/ 1st Flight: 8-3-66/ Det. 2, 9th SW - Edwards/ 27,655.5 hrs./ Lockheed - Martin/ 'Skunkworks'/ 3+/ Static: Barksdale AFB, LA." Around an installed clock movement in the center are mounted five embroidered patches: 1129th Special Activities Squadron (Roadrunner "Beep Beep"); SR-71 Mach 3; Habu 8 Snake; Det 1 Ichi Ban Color; and Lockheed Martin Skunkworks. This particular SR-71 was one of the planes that was reactivated in 1995 after being refurbished by Lockheed. It is currently on display at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. A great display piece for any aviation collector's wall. Excellent condition.
