Large and Exceptionally Detail Model of the LZ 129 "Hindenburg" Airship. 45" long and 32.75" in circumference. A beautifully constructed model of the ill-fated German passenger airship "Hindenburg". The frame of the airship is constructed of thin wood stringers and covered in light fabric or paper and finished in silver. The rudders are moveable and the four-bladed propellers on each motor spin freely. Additional details have been added by hand including the windows, the flags on the rudder, as well as other identification markings. Two small metal eyelets are mounted on top of the airship to facilitate display. The model is in fine condition, displaying only trivial storage wear. The Hindenburg met a fiery end on May 6, 1937 as it attempted to dock at Lakehurst Naval Air Station, New Jersey.
