Igor Sikorsky: Extensive Photo Archive. Large group of photographs related to aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky. The Russian-born inventor is credited with the invention of the helicopter (circa 1909), was an aviator in the period just before World War I, developed military aircraft for the Russians in World War I and the Americans in World War II, most notably sea planes and the first helicopter adopted for combat use. This large group of photos (loose and housed in two albums) was likely the personal property of "M. Buisid" whose name appears in one of the albums as well as a Sikorsky presentation autographed photo, both dated 1930. The subjects cover Sikorsky's career in aviation (1909-1950) and include images of Sikorsky, his co-workers & employees, various airplanes, components, test trials and production. We count 231 photographs ranging in size from snapshots to 8" x 10". Many are sepia-tone and quite a few depict Sikorsky himself, sometimes in the role of test pilot. All of the images are aviation-related. Many of the settings include Long Island Sound where sea planes were tested and filmed by camera men stationed on the beach. Interestingly, no photos show crashes. A truly remarkable archive related to an aviation pioneer. Fine condition overall.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
