Golden Age Aviation Racing Trophy Photo Archive. An interesting photograph archive representing a study in the racing trophies of aviation's "Golden Age". All photographs are black-and-white, most photographs are 8" x 10", and all are in very good condition. Included is an excellent four-photo study of the famed Bendix Trophy awarded to the winner of the annual transcontinental race that started in 1931. There are also studies of the B. H. Dyas trophy, Woolaroc trophy, Santa Monica Perpetual trophy, and several others. Of particular note is a small archive of proposed trophy designs and accompanying letters from artist Walter A. Sinz. Sinz has submitted several trophy designs to the director of the National Air Races, Clifford Henderson for consideration. The trophies in the archive wonderfully represent the deco style of the 1930s and visually capture the popular attitudes regarding the exciting new world of aviation. From the collection of Cliff Henderson.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
